A graduate student working in a technical area of the corporation on a temporary, full time work assignment. Work assignments will be of a project nature which is meaningful to the intern�s field of study. Technical areas of the company for internship purposes are defined as the Engineering, Chemical and Quality disciplines. Interns will be given an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real world work environment with the guidance of a mentor. The skills developed from this internship will be a vital component of the intern�s professional development.
The internship in the New Technology Group will be primarily responsible for evaluation of microarray and literature mining of genomics data and use of the data for various nutritional investigational purposes.
This internship is located at Nutrilite in Buena Park, CA.
NOTE: This internship is restricted to US graduates and Permanent Residents
Requirements:
Viable Candidates: Bachelors, Masters level or PhD level students in computational biology, bioinformatics or computer science students with a background in, or knowledge of, biological (specifically microarray) databases. Pathway analysis would be part of this internship program. Familiarity with Linux and Windows (preferably) operating systems. For the right candidate this internship can be extended to six months. For a six month position, experience in SQL/ Oracle/ database programming skills, and additional programming skills in languages such as Java, ASP.NET, C#, PERL, PYTHON is needed. In lieu of programming skills, a background in biological pathways/biochemistry will be needed.
Additionally, strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
