The Third Annual Conference of the MidSouth Computational Biology and
Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS) will be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
at The Holiday Inn Select hotel on March 2nd - 3rd with a theme of
"Bioinformatics: A Calculated Discovery". The conference will feature
2 days of technical presentations, posters, and panel discussions. The
additional day, March 4th, will consist of a one-day "Nanopore
Cheminformatics" Satellite Symposium, run in parallel with a variety of
special-interest meetings, including a local biotechnology/biotech
business forum, ad hoc MCBIOS group meetings, Vendor presentations, and
user training seminars.
With great anticipation, we are pleased to announce our keynote
speakers: Dr. Richard A. Gibbs, Ph.D. Director of the Baylor Human
Genome Sequencing Center and Dr. Winston Hide, Ph.D., Director of the
South African National Bioinformatics Institute will share their views
on the latest advances in Computational Biology. We are planning a
combination of interactive, panel discussions and technical
presentations, both poster and platform, during the conference. We
encourage students to participate in our cash award competition for best
student research presentation. Be sure and make a hotel reservation and
register early to take advantage of our special "early bird" discount.

Student awards |
Student awards will be presented on Friday, March 3rd. To be considered
for an award the work must be presented (in either poster or oral
presentation form). The student author must be listed as the first
author and be responsible for most of the research performed in the
presented work.
